Inset Training Days at FAB Learning
On 1st and 2nd September 2026 all of our staff and tutors took part in INSET training days alongside Brook Young People and the Nottinghamshire Educational Psychology Service to further develop their skills for working with the young people accessing our provision.
Our the first training day, staff learned how to implement the Brook Sexual Behaviours Traffic Light system. As part of this training, staff worked to identify, understand and respond to sexual behaviours in children and young people up to 18 years old, and to distinguish between these behaviours and normal curiosity about bodies and sex as part of their development. This was coupled with our annual safeguarding training, which provided guidance on how sexual behaviours can indicate abuse or CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation).
During the second day, our partners at the Nottinghamshire Educational Psychology Service joined us and delivered a session focused on relational practice, including emotion coaching and utilising restorative approaches with our learners.
In reflecting on the training days, one of our tutors shared the following: ‘I genuinely found all of the training very interesting, which is something we can use with all of our learners. It is also very good to receive new information to inform our practice.’
