Exams

FAB Learning Interventions is an approved NOCN Training Centre. We are proud to offer our learners the opportunity to complete coursework and exams for the following qualifications:

• Functional Skills Entry-Level 1, Entry- Level 2, Entry-Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2 English
• Functional Skills Entry-Level 1, Entry- Level 2, Entry-Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2 Maths

* Exams in English require a completion and pass mark for three separate exams (Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening) for the full qualification to be achieved.
* Exams in Maths require a completion and pass mark for one Maths exam that comprises a calculator and non-calculator component for the full qualification to be achieved.

Functional Skills (FS) are practical qualifications where Level 2 is the direct equivalent to a GCSE grade 4/C, accepted by employers and colleges, while Level 1 is comparable to GCSE grades 1-3 (D-G).

All learners in Year 10 and Year 11 accessing our provision will have the opportunity to complete Functional Skills exams in English and Maths. Year 11's are given the opportunity to complete both Maths and English exams to reach their qualifications in December, February and June of each academic year, with Year 10's completing exams in May. We aim to give learners as many opportunities to sit and re-sit their exams to ensure they have the qualifications they need to apply for their Post-16 destinations and support their college and apprenticeship applications. All qualification certificates for passed exams will be shared with learner's families and their commissioners.

Tutors at FAB Learning will help all learners prepare for their exams as part of their programme plan. They will also help learners to manage their anxiety. More information about this topic for parents and carers can be found here: Managing Exam Stress
